A 25,000 sq ft abattoir, built on our client's farm.
In designing the split-level meat plant, the design consultant took advantage of the sloping site to place the dirty rooms under the slaughter hall. Apart from the final cost, our client's principal concern was that the move from her rented abattoir in Sunderland would not cause a loss in production and consequent disruption of supplies to her customers.
Flexibility of the "Management Construction" route enabled a fast track start on site with structural design and detailing progressing to keep pace with the construction programme.
The project went ahead on the basis of our initial cost plan estimate and was built, fitted out and completed to budget and to programme, enabling vacation of the rented plant and seamless continuity of production, notwithstanding some delay caused by a very hard winter.
